Announcing Nexus Canada

We are proud to be the official host of Nexus in Canada. Nexus is a global movement of 3000+ next generation wealth holders, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors from over 70 countries uniting to catalyze new leadership and accelerate solutions to global problemss

Nexus Canada will be led by Assaf Weisz as National Director, Jonathan Glencross as Associate Director, and seasoned entrepreneur, investor and author Ruma Bose as Chair. The group will host an annual summit and a series of salons throughout the year with distinguished speakers on the cutting edges of social change, and support the membership in the formation of working groups to take action on the topics of most relevance to the community.

Next-gen investors and philanthropists will play a critical role in accelerating the spread of impact investment, new philanthropic approaches, and new consumption behaviours, all as part of an integration of personal values in the stewardship of capital. This was highlighted recently in an eye-opening study by the Private Wealth Management group at the Bank of America, which found that millennials were twice as likely as baby boomers to state that “investments express my social, political, and environmental values.”. The same study found that three quarters of millennials surveyed said that social and financial returns were “not at odds”.

In the course of our work, we have seen, in no uncertain terms, how next-gens are increasingly earnest and active as social entrepreneurs, impact investors, philanthropists, and champions for important changes to these spaces. That’s why Nexus is so important: it convenes next-gens in a community of peers on similar journeys, connects them to thought leaders, and provides them with the space to consider how to begin or amplify their initiatives. For example, the 2015 Global Summit allowed delegates to learn about impact investing directly from John Goldstein, CEO of Imprint Capital, and Leisl Pritzker Simmons, Co-founder of the Blue Haven Initiative, while focusing inward with Deepak Chopra. Nexus Canada’s very own kick-off event in early September featured insights from Craig Kielburger, Co-founder of Free The Children.
