Alex Kjorven is the Director of Corporate Development at Purpose Capital. She leads the Client Services team in addition to focusing on organizational development and building PC’s capacity to scale. Alex acts as a key contact on social enterprise and venture development related projects. She combines a background in finance with various leadership roles in the non-profit sector to curate solutions and strategies that fuse business with impact.
Prior to joining Purpose Capital, Alex served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute where she led the drafting and launch of the Trinidad & Tobago Corporate Governance Code, developed for all listed and regulated companies. Alex is a co-author on Purpose Capital’s landmark report Redefining Returns: The State of Social Finance in the Canadian Financial Sector (June 2012) and was also curator of the 2011 Canadian Social Finance Forum at the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing as part of several roles she held with the Mars Discovery District.
Her footprint on the Canadian social finance landscape began with her leadership of the ACCESS Community Capital Fund during its development and expansion of community micro-finance across the Greater Toronto Area. Her experiences in the private sector include Senior Associate at KPMG LLP in both Transaction Services Advisory and Audit practice areas.
Alex is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Rotman Commerce at the University of Toronto, where she is currently a sessional lecturer on Social Entrepreneurship to MEng students in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering.
